Yay! I’m now a Berkoid. I’ve been exploring the local area a little and I must say, I am impressed with the background music I’ve been hearing so far. On Sunday night I was in the Boat which seem to play, not the usual rubbish pop charts, but up to date quality tunes like Arctic Monkeys and We Are Scientists. The Rex cinema was playing Jeff Buckley, department store McKay’s broadcast Bic Runga and even the corner café Bloc, was playing Rufus Wainwright, surely this is a good sign?

There’s two local live music venues too, The Goat, which I’m playing on checking out tonight and a coffee shop/win bar at the west side of town hosts bands on Thursdays and a DJ on Fridays. It’s great to see my new home is culturally aware.

After four months of stress and frustration we finally exchanged contracts. You may have noticed a distinct lack of posts on Brainfire recently. This is due to the final weeks of the purchase taking up all my time and the last thing I wanted to was blog.

But now, I’m a very happy man. Next Friday 28^th October I pick up the keys to my wonderful little home. I can’t wait. Berko here I come!

The vendor a lovely house in Berkhamsted accepted our offer on Thursday last week. Before too long we should become Berkoids, enjoying the beautiful surroundings! I’m very much looking forward to moving out of the city and having my own garden. Now starts the whole house buying process… wahoo!
