Secret garden

A secret garden

I’ve noticed a secret little garden in an obscure place. Just before the westbound platform at Farringdon. You can’t see it from the platform, only from the tube as you’re about to get there. It’s right in the middle of several tracks, next to what looks like a small office or signal box. It stands out as it’s such a well-kept space right in the middle of an commuting hub. There are sunflowers, garden gnomes, and is surrounded by a type of racing track red and white curb. I’ll try and get a better picture of it, it’s quite difficult with a phone-camera.

The end of Routemasters

by Mat on Dec.09, 2005, under London

I learnt that today was to be the last day of London’s iconic Routemaster double deckers. London’s hop on, hop off buses. It’s only a bus, but I can see it’s a shame to see them go as they have so much character. Last year when there was a tube strike, I managed to hop on the back of one and I remember admiring it’s features, like the way the driver sits afore everyone else and the spiral staircase.

I suppose everything comes to an end at some stage and we must move on. In another 50 years we’ll bee looking at the our, at present modern buses end their service and loving their antique CCTV cameras and easy-step hydraulics.

DJ Format gig

James, Stu and myself attended the Mean Fiddler last night to see DJ Format with support from Little Barrie, a 3 piece 70s funk style summer jam type outfit who were rather good. The drummer has a surprisingly high singing voice for his chunky hairy appearance, but this is not to say it was bad. The harmonies & rhythm worked very well over the top of the jingley jangly guitar. Shame we missed the solo on Free Salute due to the second broken string of the night.

Animals on the Underground

Snake on the underground

Snake on the underground

My good friend Andrew found this very useful tube map. I thought I’d return the favour with animals on the underground. Something else to think about while spending hours travelling down there with all the rats. I found a snake!
