Don’t buy cheap drills

Bent drill bit
I was putting a curtain up yesterday and my cheap drill bit came up against a small stone - guess who lost. I’ve not done a lot of DIY home improvements, but I’m quite sure that I was doing everything correctly. A masonry bit for plaster and brick - right? Made a right chuffin mess of my plasterboard too.
Never forget your wedding anniversary
by Mat on Jun.06, 2006, under Misc
Absolute genius! It’s only a simple thing, but what a great idea. I hear it all the time, guys getting in trouble because they’re forgotten their wedding anniversary. My girlfriend’s sister and husband were staying with us a a few days back. Duncan’s only gone and had their special day engraved on the inside of his wedding band! All he has to do, is take his ring off and read it. That’s what I’m going to do.
Group presents
by Mat on Mar.01, 2006, under Misc
For about the last 10 years my friends and I have clubbed in together to get each other a birthday present. It’s a great idea which has certainly paid dividends to me. This year my wonderful friends bought me a pair of Sennheiser PXC 300’s which is the kind of extravagance I could never justify buying for myself. Previous gifts include: a Lomo, a Ferrari driving experience, a 1.3MP digital camera (this one was a while ago), a Yamaha Tape Deck (this one was also a while ago, but a top quality item), a Panasonic car stereo, a Canon 35mm (yes… another camera), the list goes on. I definitely recommend it for the your group of friends in your twenties. Now though, as we’re all buying our homes, it’s proving difficult to find a worthy gift. All we want is sofas, plates and curtains. How dull is that?!
Rogue taxidermy

No, not a Google whack, but something very strange indeed. Last nights dinner conversation touched slightly on the wonders of the Internet. Over the first course, I thought it was time we talked about animals with two heads and badger-fish. As if taxidermy wasn’t enough already. Check it out for yourself, but beware, these custom creatures may offend.
In Case of Emergency

Following last weeks atrocities, I have received a few similar emails about ICE. This to me, sounds like a very logical idea.
By entering the acronym ICE - for In Case of Emergency - into the mobile’s phone book, users can log the name and number of someone who should be contacted in an emergency.
This can be done by everyone, anywhere in the world.
